Our Projects

Berrong-Oakley House
Restoration of a 1905 Queen-Anne historic home in downtown Hiawassee to use as an event center and museum to preserve our history while supporting our local downtown businesses.

Old Burch Cemetery
The old Burch Cemetery is on an island created when the TVA built Chatuge Reservoir in 1941, cutting off access.
Out of the 330 original graves, 30 were left behind.

Presley Post Office
The first restoration project of the society, this historic community post office, officially dubbed as the 'traveling post office' has been saved from the wrecking ball several times and now invites guests to learn about how mail was delivered in rural Appalachia.

Old Rock Jail
Built in 1936, the historic building once served as the county jail and living quarters for the Sherrif. It is one of 2 places in Towns County listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.

Swappin' Stories
